Book of Mormon, Temple sessions, Raymond

This week has been a busy one! Full of doctors appts, temple sessions, & sharing the Gospel!!

I met Raymond while I was on Temple Square. I'm not sure how accountable he is. He kept asking if I've seen the movie? And if I believe in Magic? (Harry potter magic? I wish! but No.) I was able to teach him a bit about temples, introduce him to the Sister Missionaries, and He got a Book of Mormon!

I also met a man on trax. The Trax Man! ( he never shared his name....) Anyways he asked me where I was going. I was heading to Temple square from the Doctors. We had  a nice conversation about Temples. He was once and investigator and was actually going to meet one of the Sister Missionaries who originally taught him. I re invited him to take lessons. He said he'd think about it.

I've been the temple quite a bit this week... actually 5 times a week I think.... So if you have names you'd like me to do let my parents know!! I love the temple. Its such a peaceful place. You can't hear the outside world. Even though I've gone inside and done an endowment session multiple times I still learn something new! If you haven't been to the temples this month, or even this summer take the time!! "You will reap the blessings of Heaven" (or something along those lines) -President Thomas S. Monson. And I agree full heartily with that!!

I also finished the Book of Mormon 2 days ago! What a wonderful feeling. I was studying every time the word Love or Heart is mentioned. Its amazing to see that its mentioned on almost every page! If you haven't started the Book of Mormon now's the time. Cause there's no time like today!!

I love you all! And hope you are doing well.

August 17, 2015 Andrea's baptism, Medical life

We had the opportunity to witness Andrea's (Jewel Lake ward) baptism! It was wonderful. I was invited to sing in the choir as well. Andrea has never been so happy! In the few months that I didn't get to see her she has definitely changed. She seems so much more peaceful & happy :) The spirit was so strong! It was wonderful to see her & her family again.

As many of you know I have been sick for the past couple of weeks. Because of my condition I have been sent to SLC for better medical care and will be returning to Alaska as soon as I am well.

I hope you are doing well. I am released but I am still a missionary! I hope you are all doing well. I love you all. Sorry if this was a Debbie downer.

August 10th, 11 months, Zone meeting, Caroling, Doctors

This week has been insane!! So many miracles & blessings.

We had a miracle family last week, the Klines. Sadly when we went to the return appt last monday. We found a note taped to the door with the Book of Mormon on the step. :(

But we tracked into Teresa. We were trying a referral and she wasn't home so we tried a door upstairs. Teresa told us she was catholic & while she was shutting the door we mentioned eternal families. She burst into tears! He husband has just recently passed away, he was a member, and always told her they'd one day be an eternal family. We were able to bear our testimonies to her about how we believe that families can be together forever. And we set up a time to return!

We've been visiting the doctor this week. Just some tests. Doing well! Thanks for all the prayers.

We also had zone meeting discussing about how we can have a "bonfire" area. Things that we can do to help our areas be the best conducive to the work! We talked about updating area books, talking to 10 new people everyday, and tips on being better teachers. It was uplifting & the spirit was strong!

We also went caroling! We sang "I am a Child of God." I think we didn't sound to shabby. I never really realized how many gospel truths it shares in it. But Heavenly Father does loves us & and answers each one of our prayers. Not always in the way we want or expect but its all in his timing.

I love you all. And I hope you are all doing well :)

August 3rd, Earthquake, Oatmeal, Temple, & 2 New Investigators

We felt an earthquake on Tuesday!! It was a 6.2. Luckily there was no damage. We were actually eating dinner at the time. It was quite exciting!

We had the privilege to attend the temple this week!! Which is super exciting. If you're lucky you get the chance to attend every 6 weeks! I sadly haven't been able to go in 3 months :( I love the temple! I love the spirit you can feel in there. Even just being on the grounds can bring so much comfort in times of trials & even just the jolly good times.

We also picked up 2 new investigators!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! The Klines. We had the chance to teach them the Restoration. Today we get to return and teach them the Plan of Salvation. (Where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going.)

We also got to see Tomi, the Parkers, and meet with Lisa. Lisa is a former investigator... She may have bed bugs & schizophrenia.... I think the bed bugs have been exterminated though because i didn't see any bites on her legs... she's really interesting. She told us about the voices in her head.... I'm not terribly worried about our safety. We're in the Lord's hands.

Sadly my sickness has persisted this week. So I've been loving oatmeal & Gatorade! I've decided my favorite oatmeal is maple & brown sugar. And the best fruit & creme oatmeal is Strawberry. I hope you are all doing well! I love you all! :)

July 27, Zone conference, Weed whackers, & a District tract

This week has been very interesting!

On our way to some service at the local Recycling center we drove past some weed whackers. As we drove past a rock got sprung from the whacker and hit the driver side window of our car! (My window since I was the driver.) As I turned to look at it I fully expected to see absolutely nothing, my lap covered in glass, and a nice goose egg on my head. But instead I was completely unharmed. The window was shattered but it stood strong! What a blessing from my Heavenly Father. We ended up inviting the Weed whacker to take the lessons. Sadly he said no. But he does know the YSA's recent convert!

We had the chance to teach the Restoration to Suzy. She is the sister of Sister Hintz, in our ward. We felt impressed to invite her to be baptized. She said no. But she did accept a Book of Mormon & said she'd probably read it after her vacation.

We had Zone Conference. It was about sanctifying ourselves into a true disciple of Christ & creating a vision for yourself. That applies to us all on our missions or off a mission. We all can have goals in our lives & when these goals are in line with the Lord's will we are unstoppable :)

We did a district tract! We got to talk to a girl named Amanda. She had a lot of questions about the Book of Mormon. She compared us to a cult. Which was quite awkward. Because that doesn't' make any sense. But she'd be in the YSA so we referred her to the Elders.

I've still been feeling sick. So that isn't sure enjoyable. But hopefully it'll clear up soon.

I also gave a talk in Sacrament about what my baptismal Covenants mean to me! I spoke about Jameson (in jewel lake) who had a phobia of water but had decided to be baptized. I spoke of the preparation he did to be prepared and how when his baptismal day came that he felt peaceful and that the baptism continued as planned. What a blessing! Our covenants are sacred promises with Heavenly Father, they bind us to him a special way. There are so many blessings. But the biggest one is that we know we are following our Savior.

I love you all!

I'm in Alma in the Book of Mormon and i'm highlighting each time the word "heart" or "love" is mentioned. Its very interesting.

In the Norwegian Book of Mormon, Mormons Bok, i'm in 1 Nephi 15! Coming along.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! I know the Book of Mormon is true. And i know you can find peace & happiness while you read!

love you all!

July 20, Curtians, Investigators, and Sickness

This week has been full of ups and downs!

We taught a lesson with some actives, the Smiths, & they invited Sister Razavi as well. YAY!!! Answer to our prayers. We asked her to bear her testimony on the Restoration. I love the Restoration lesson. There is such a power that comes with it.

We had some interesting service this week. We helped serve ice cream at the Pioneer Home, help out at the Food Bank, and helped a less active change her sheets... never seen so much cat hair in my life.

We were able to teach the Restoration to the Parker family's father!! YAY!! Super exciting. He asked for a Book of Mormon. OF COURSE YOU CAN HAVE A BOOK OF MORMON!!! We're teaching them again tonight.

We were able to reconnect with the Sullivans. They live in Fishhooks area but have requested Sisters, we keep the Fishhook Elders in the loop. They are defiantly ready for the gospel.

We also got curtains! YES!! Our cottage literally only had curtains in the bedroom. Had to change that. Super Awkward.

I also caught what the mission nurse thinks is a viral infection. So we've stayed in the past few days due to my ... grossness... hope you catch my drift.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I love you a lot.

10 August 2015

July 13, transfers, road trip, and fire clean up!!

Last p day Sister Larcom and I rode down from Fairbanks to Wasilla. About a 6-8 drive. I've never been the driver for that long so that was interesting! We saw just a lot of trees.

We also had Transfers! I'm in the Colony Wasilla ward and greenie breaking Sister McGee! The Colony ward is doing so well.

We had the impression to visit someone that the Sisters are tracked into. As we got out of the car someone across the street started waving at us! Turns out they thought we were the pricers for their garage sale... haha we helped them set up their garage sale & set up a return appt.!! YAY!! Two potential families in the works :)

We helped with the fire clean up in Willow. (its about an hour drive outside of Wasilla, a tiny town). We helped this one lady, Elaine,  clean out her burned conexs and than she let us feed her sled dogs! So that was fun :)

We had zone meeting! There's a few changes in the mission - nothing major though. It was nice to have an update on the rules & such.

We met with Kasey & Ray this week. Ray is less active and Kasey is our new investigator. She has been taught all the lessons before!! She's so ready :) We're really excited. Great things are happening!!

Well I love you all. I hope you are all having a wonderful week.

ps: We live in a legit cottage!
